Projects
Vandling Pump Station Gravity Sewer Construction
The Vandling pumping station serves the Borough of Vandling in northern Lackawanna County and is tributary to the LRBSA’s Clinton Township wastewater treatment plant. The project will construct a new gravity sewer line that will bypass the pumping station and convey the wastewater to the treatment plant entirely by gravity flow.
Lackawanna River - Streambank Stabilization Phase III (2021)
Approximately 357 lineal feet of impacted streambank along the Lackawanna River will be stabilized and rock-lined to prevent further erosion and protect the existing LRBSA interceptor pipe located along the river.
Throop Treatment Plant Aeration Pipeline Replacement
The Throop treatment plant uses a biological process to remove organic constituents from the incoming wastewater. As part of this process, air is compressed and distributed throughout the treatment tanks, bubbling through the wastewater and supplying oxygen to the beneficial microorganisms that consume the organic pollutants. The existing underground pipeline that supplied air to the treatment tanks consisted of multiple pipe segments that experienced air leakage at their joints.
Jessup Borough Sanitary Sewer Upgrade
The LRBSA’s Jessup Borough Sanitary Sewer Upgrade project replaced 2,145 lineal feet of existing 8” and 10” diameter sanitary sewer lines with new 15”, 16” and 18” diameter pipe. The upgrades were undertaken to increase the conveyance capacity of the sewer system to accommodate commercial and industrial development in the Jessup Borough service area, and support continued economic growth in the region.
Throop Treatment Plant Digester Cover Replacement
The floating steel covers are being replaced with new inflatable membrane covers that will greatly increase the amount of methane gas that can be stored. This storage capacity will provide a more consistent fuel source for the on-site heat and electrical power generating systems and optimize their operation.
Moosic Pump Station No. 1 Grinder Installation
Municipal wastewater typically contains assorted debris flushed into the sewer system. While only items specifically listed as flushable or sewer-safe should be disposed of down the drain, wastewater will generally include quantities of non-degradable items such as disposable wipes used for household cleaning, as well as health and hygiene products.
Simpson Pump Station Modifications
Pumping stations are provided at several points within the LRBSA wastewater conveyance system. These stations are used to transport wastewater from low-lying areas to a point of higher elevation where the water can flow by gravity through the sewer system.
Lackawanna River - Streambank Stabilization Phase II (2018)
Approximately 140 lineal feet of impacted streambank along the Lackawanna River will be stabilized and rock-lined to prevent further erosion and protect the existing LRBSA interceptor pipe located along the river.
Archbald Treatment Plant Solids Handling Improvements
The project will replace aging sludge thickening and dewatering equipment at the end of their useful service lives. The upgrades will improve operational efficiency and increase reliability of the solids handling processes.
Moosic Pumps Stations #1 and #2 Pump Replacement
Sewage pumps will be replaced at two (2) pumping stations in the Borough of Moosic.
Archbald WWTP Pump Control Panel Replacement
Electrical control panels for both the effluent and waste sludge pumping stations located at the Archbald wastewater treatment plant will be replaced with new equipment.
Lackawanna River - Streambank Stabilization Phase I (2017)
Approximately 205 lineal feet of impacted streambank along the Lackawanna River will be stabilized and rock-lined to prevent further erosion and protect the existing LRBSA interceptor pipe located along the river.
