Location: Archbald Borough
Description:
At the Archbald treatment facility, two separate pumping systems are used: one for transporting effluent wastewater and the other for handling waste sludge generated by the treatment process.
The effluent pumping station moves treated water from the biological treatment process to the disinfection system before it is discharged into the Lackawanna River. Meanwhile, the waste sludge pumping station collects residual solids from the treatment process and transports them to the solids handling system for further processing.
Both pumping stations were originally built in 1990 and are still using the original electrical controls. As part of an upgrade, the existing control panels will be replaced with modern, state-of-the-art controls. This improvement will enhance system reliability and provide operators with greater control over the pumping process.
